Two companies, Asian Gear and Flip Gear, were brought to life in the summer of 1999. They were both established with the same mission -- to reach out to Asians and Islanders that would stimulate pride for their heritage and culture. In case you are wondering, "FLIP" gear may be "in your face," but it should not be confused with the Western term 'flip' (as in flippant) We use it as an acronym for "Fine Looking Island People," and hope that you will see it as a positive, fun, label to proudly wear. (It's okay if "FLIP" gets people talking -- it is meant to!) We want the name to put our merchandise -- and those who wear our merchandise -- in a positive light. These two sole-proprietorship companies, working in partnership, have grown dynamically in just a few short years; they are each already four times their original size. The merchandise selection has grown from simple baseball caps to all types of headgear: beanies, visors, fisherman's hats -- with more planned. And we've added men's and women's apparel. Our lines of clothing for men and women are in the process of being extensively expanded. Our primary objective is to become in five years a major international label for the Asian and Islander cultures in the manner of other labels such as Fubu. We hope that, with God's help and our own deep respect for all people, we will be able to enrich worldwide cultural appreciation of Asians while creating limitless possibilities for our companies.
