About |
Because the pedaling path of the HCT has pedals that are pushed downward to reciprocate the "L" shaped lever in a near linear path, instead of a circular path, the result would be less upward resistance to a riders body weight, as it is shifted from one pedal to the other. Thus, it is a combination of effort spread along a longer distance and less upward resistance to downward pedaling force that gives the HCT quicker propulsion response to pedaling force . The Lever enhanced pedaling system (LEPS) offers a more consistent pedaling force, because each pedal maintains a distance from the fulcrum, while in motion, that is almost linear or in a straight line. A conventional crank sprocket on other hand encounters its most upward resistance to be pedaled downward when the pedal is at its peak position, thus the rider would have to push the pedal at an angle to turn the crank sprocket, which is still not farther away than the vector of force applied to the crank sprocket's pedal when the axle of both pedal's are at 180 degrees. So the key element of the HCT is near linear consistent downward pedaling force. |
