At SAM Fratelli Serra we have been making cement and marble grit tiles for interior and exterior use since 1951. In 1997 the company relocated to the present modern facility, which boasts three fully automated production lines and two surface-coating lines, supporting an output of some 1500 sqm of tiles per shift. SAM produces sheets sized from 20x20 cm to 50x50 cm, with different moulds and surface finishes, utilising raw materials, and especially aggregates that are selected from various parts of the region and country in which the company is based. The sheets bear the CE mark in compliance with the Construction Products Directive 89/106, which harmonises the UNI EN 13748-2 set of standards for exteriors and UNI EN 13748-1 for interiors. In May 2007 SAM was awarded a patent by Italcementi for the production of photocatalytic sheets made with TX Active cement.
