About | RFNet is a contract Wireless and Networking product design and ODM house at the leading edge of technology and innovation. We specialize in three core technologies: Radio Frequency Circuits, Networking Protocol Stack and Embedded programming on Real Time Operating System or FPGA programming with expertise in soft modem. We have the professional expertise to provide an all-encompassing design and consultancy package to meet your business needs, from conceptualization, project management to final product. We function as one with the customer throughout the life cycle of the design project and our approach is keyed towards ensuring exceptional customer experience and the best product. RFNet is a spin off company from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) , Singapore. It was incorporated in Feb 2001 by a team of former full-time researchers from NTU. Our research in Wireless Networking started in the early 90s with Prof. Law's (RFNet Co-founder and Technology Advisor) dream to remove the wire between the Local Area Network (LAN) point and desktop computer. At that time, the bus network topology was most popular, and many LAN maintenance problems were due to wiring. At the same time, deployment for places where wiring is difficult, such as in old buildings and diverse locations, posed a challenge. With the keen interest to find a solution to this the team carried out research to study the effects of indoor multi-path problem on broadband wireless communication system. The result was the development of a proprietary Manchester encoded DPSK transceiver operating at 1. 95GHz / 1. 8GHz to link two wired IEEE 802. 3 Ethernet wirelesslyin 1995. In order to make this commercially viable and allow for broader based application, the team then focused on standard based IEEE 802. 11 technology and developed the wireless LAN (WLAN) PCMCIA adaptor, WLAN Access Point and LAN-to-LAN bridge. These represent the first technology platform offered by RFNet at the initial stage. The keen interest and devotion to find a technological solution to a challenge and realization of a vision epitomize the spirit of RFNet. The company efforts had since intensified into the areas of Bluetooth and semi-active RFID. Some of our other areas of research, design and implementation include: Integrating Wireless LAN into Weighing Machine Integrating Wireless LAN into Thermal Printer Provide consulting service together with NTU to Info-Communications Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) on the new generation wireless LAN trial and evaluation Design and development of wireless LAN to LAN bridge up to 6 km range Design and development of wireless LAN access point conforming to IEEE 802. 11b standard Design and development of PCMCIA type II wireless LAN Card Design and development of Bluetooth radio transceiver module Radio cell planning and implementation of campus wide wireless LAN system Development and design of directive antennas Network planning, maintenance, management and implementation RFNet believes that in today's competitive market, the most powerful selling tool we possess and will incessantly pursue is excellence in research and development. We are particularly focused on the following technologies: Radio frequency circuit design for both analog and digital, and both narrow and broadband application Internet Protocol (IP) , IP Routing, WAN and LAN protocols development Real Time Embedded, Driver and FPGA programming As a testimony of our strength, RFNet has been appointed an independent design house for Freescale (Formally known as Motorola) since July 2002, specializing in embedded design for POWER QUICC processor. Through our continuous research and development efforts and adoption of best practices, we are well positioned to offer the optimal products, solutions and services to our customers at competitive prices. |
