About | The interknit industries private limited project in the original form was implemented during 1988. Extensive training of the workers and staff continued until the end of 1989 and serious marketing efforts commenced only by the end of 1989. The project has been established as an 100% export oriented project and has to pay no/negligible import duty on the raw material and machinery it imports. The project enjoys all the facilities of 100% eou/export processing zone. On the other hand all exports of its knitwear to european union is quota free which makes the landed price of the final product very attractive to the buyers - as compared to other sources afflicted by quota problems. Interknit was designed and established to manufacture high quality flat knitted outerwear with a high to medium segment of the market as its target. Due to its serious commitments to high quality product manufacture, the entire approach of the top management towards the equipment, human resource, technical know how, and raw material sources has been long term and careful. The capacity ranges from 900,000 to 1,000,000 pieces per annum which is lower than the installed capacity. This is due to the close attention paid to producing quality products. The project is technically capable of producing almost all kinds of flat knitted outer wear such as: A. Pullovers in various kinds of neck style like round, vee, mock, roll, turtle, etc. B. Cardigans C. Slipovers D. Jumpers E. Jackets F. Dresses G. Vests H. Skirts etc. The knitting gauges available are 12 gg and 8 gg. There is also a limited capacity available in 5gg. And other various blends in these in various proportions. More than 900 people are engaged directly in this project in various capacities. This is when all the hand flats are not utilised simultaneously. There is a floating capacity of about 250 extra knitters to be engaged as and when all the hand flat knitting machines are to be utilised. This depend upon the quantity of the orders available, the content of work in various styles and design, time available for the execution of the orders and many other variables also. As a woolmark licence, interknit is able to offer woolmark product which helps in building the quality confidence in the customers. All in all we can say that this project in nepal is of its own kind and all the facilities required for this kind of project have been built up and created within one complex and under one roof. |
