| About | Karigar means artisan, Karigar is the retail arm of Asha Handicrafts (an accredited member of the World Fair Trade Organisation(WFTO), Karigar the store, displays exclusive handcrafted, traditional Kalamkari textile art in a contemporary designs, exquisite home furnishings, Warli paintaings from Maharashtra, functional artifacts and traditional Hand Embroidery from Kutch, silver jewellery from Rajasthan, Bidri inlay products from Bidar, and wooden boxes, letter racks and essential home decor in seshamwood. Asha Handicrafts is a not-for-profit making body, based in Mumbai, working to promote Fair Trade and Fair Trade practices, which ensures that the benefits of handicrafts production reach the artisans directly. The profits of the organization are ploughed back towards fair wages, design and development, training, education assistance for the artisans children, medical facilities and financial and marketing assistance. |
